Voilier beach is a comfortable public beach east of Florida beach and the site of Voilier Plage beach restaurant. Voilier beach is one of the wider beaches on the baie des anges and there's an ample public space east of the private Voilier Plage.
While not exactly sandy, the pebbles are smaller and interspersed with more gravel especially near the water line. The beach slopes gently down to the water here making sea access easier than on other beaches.
Voilier is the closest beach to the striking Elysee Palace, a four-star member of the Sheraton Four Points group.
There's very limited hourly parking on the Promenade here.
On the public beach, there's a portable WC in the summer. There's a public shower and toilet on the eastern end of the beach, bordering Forum beach. Clients of Le Voilier Plage have access to a toilet and hot indoor shower.
In addition to the option of dining at Voilier Plage restaurant, you could turn up ave Paul Valery where there's a Spar supermarket and a simple cafe on ave de la Californie.
The closest bus stop is Grosso/CUM/Promenade. You'll find buses 8, 11, 52, 59, 60, 70, 94, 98, 200, 230, 400, 500.
There's no lifeguard on duty at Voilier public beach but there is one just east at Forum.
There's a little something for everyone on the Voilier Plage restaurant menu from pizza to grilled fish. As for entertainment, a DJ plays mellow beach music on Sundays. See more about private beaches and beach-restaurants.
Address: 58 Promenade des Anglais
Service was friendly and efficient as my companions and I lingered over a long lunch. In the mood for a filling lunch, I ordered the fish & chips prompting the waiter to joke that I must be English. No! One of my companions ordered a pizza and the other ordered a salad of tomato and burrata. The salad worked out the best as the tomatoes and burrata were of good quality and fairly copious. My fish & chips were OK but a Londoner would surely have been disappointed. The pizza was very average and most likely came from the freezer. Beach restaurants are probably not the best places to order pizza as their ovens are surely not generating the necessary heat. After, we took advantage of the super-reasonable half-day price and lounged around under a parasol for the rest of the afternoon. As it was Sunday in high-season, we were of course placed a number of rows back but I wouldn't have expected otherwise. We were treated well and the changing rooms and showers in back were spacious, clean and well-outfitted. Jeanne August 2, 2015.
